The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is one of the most noticeable of our butterflies. It is large and very bright yellow with string black lines on it.  It flies throughout the Eastern half of the country. There are 3 forms of Eastern Tiger coloration, 1 male and 2 female.  If it has blue on the lower wings it is female.  There is also a very dark black version where most of the usual black markings are visible as even darker marks.  The females then can be either yellow or black.
