Can be found in marsh areas from the northeast coastal areas round and across the FL Big Bend to the Gulf coast and into W Texas. It is not widely common but does like wetland areas. Both sexes are dark with orange markings but the female has white spots of the upper forewing. They have a clear lighter ray that stretches from the base of the wing out half way up the wing.
