Wood-Nymphs are part of the Satyr family. The Common Wood-Nymph has large eyes and is dark brown and lined as a background. The eyes are big and noticeable. There is frequently a large yellow patch on the forewing, but can be faint to missing depending on variations and locations.
The Common Wood-Nymph is found across most of the USA other than the southern areas of the south western states. They are seen at woodland edges and frequently resting verticallly on tree trunks.
