Whilst this butterfly is fairly common in moist woodlands in the eastern half of the US it is not so common in northern Florida and not at all in the peninsula of Florida. The individual shown below was seen in North Carolina.
To identify look for the white curve on the underside of the hindwing with the white dot missing.
