Red-spotted Purple

Also known as the White Admiral. the White Admiral is found in the northern states and Canada and appears very differently. The Red-spotted purple is differently colored in the southeastern states being dark with a clear blue wash and a few red spots on the upper surface. It is not confused for much other than potentially a tailless Pipevine Swallowtail which it seems to mimic. The Swallowtail is poisonous so it is worth mimicking.
