Striped Hairstreak has a large range, including the southeast, but it not a common butterfly. As with many hairstreaks it will typically sit on leaves or nectar on trees such as Sparkelberry. The Banded, King’s and Striped Hairstreaks are initially similar visually. King’s and Striped have red crown over the blue spot on Hindwing. King’s and Banded have white bands a distance away from the abdomen. Striped in much closer to the abdomen
