The Tawny Emperor is equally well distributed as the Hackberry Emperor and often seen in the same locations. It does tend to perch high on leaves.
The difference between Hackberry and Tawny Emperors: Hackberry has sport on the forewing halfway along at the top, Tawny has chevrons, on the underwing the Hackberry has clear ‘eye spots’, the Tawny ‘eye spots’ are much less clear.
