It can be found near wet areas such as streams etc where Willow grows. Males often defend their territories resting frequently on the Willow leaves.  Can be confused with the Monarch but inspection will show a black curved line/band on the hind wing on both upper and under sides.  It is a little smaller and frequently  darker.
